THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: What is your favourite place to read in?

I think I’m just going to answer the random question this week. Currently my favourite place to read is anywhere. Since we moved here a couple of years ago I haven’t really found a favourite place to read. I like to read outside, so now that the weather is getting warmer I might try sitting out on our porch to read. The only drawback is that it’s at the front of our house and we live on a fairly busy corner. I can see right into Tim Hortons from our porch, but we’re far enough away that it might not be a problem. I’ll see how it works out anyway.

THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: How do you review your books? Do you review them right away as soon as you finish reading them? Or do you let them wait a bit and do you ever fall behind?

I’ll answer the random question first and then see if I can answer a few of the set prompts.

Random question…

For a while there I wasn’t reviewing any of the books I read, because I got so far behind and discouraged. This year I decided that I should attempt to write a review for every book I read, even if it’s only a few sentences. Because of this I now try to write the review right after I’ve finished reading the book. This way the book is still fairly fresh in my mind and I can keep up with things. I’ve been writing all my reviews on Goodreads. Writing the reviews in this way is working for me so far and I’m keeping up with it very well.

Now for a couple of the other prompts:

I’m currently reading…  Finding God in the Waves: How I Lost My Faith and Found It Again Through Science by Mike McHargue – I’m really enjoying this one and might even get it finished tonight.

I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)… I took part in the SavvyReadathon on Saturday, which ran from 9am-9pm. It was a fun event and I hope to take part in something similar again. I managed 3 books and got about a third of the way through another. I probably would’ve managed more if I hadn’t stopped reading to watch TFC, plus I had to go out and run an errand at one point. If I plan better for the next one I might manage to read more than I did this time. It doesn’t matter too much anyway, as I enjoyed what I managed to get read.

THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: Do you like to read when you are feeling under the weather?

I think I’ll try to answer a few of these this week, as it’s been a while since I participated in this meme.

I’m currently reading…

As usual,  I have more than one book on the go. The one’s I want to get through first include: How to be Here by Rob Bell, Are You Seeing Me? by Darren Groth, and Liturgy of the Ordinary by Trish Harrison Warren. I want to get the Rob Bell one finished soon as his new one is out next week. Are You Seeing Me? is a review copy I received from LibraryThing, so I’d need to get that one done soon as well.

Up next I think I’ll read…

I’d like to get into Finding God in the Waves by Mike McHargue. I got it for my birthday about a month ago and have been wanting to read it since it came out last year. I also have another review book from LibraryThing to read, Bronze and Sunflower by Can Wenxuan, which I need to get to soon as well.

I bought the following book(s) in the past week…

I only bought one book this week – The Face of Jesus by Edward Lucie Smith. It was on sale at Indigo and I got it for just over three dollars. It’s probably more a coffee table book than anything else and contains hundreds of different depictions of Jesus in art through the ages. The price was right and it is quite interesting too.

I can’t wait to get a copy of…

One of the books I’m really looking forward to is What is the Bible? by Rob Bell. It’s out next week, but I may still per-order it, as there are some extras available when pre-ordered. I’ll see how it goes, but it’s one I’ll definitely be picking up.

I blogged about ____ this past week…

I’ve been trying to post more on my blog recently after it being very sporadic for the first part of this year. I’ve also been taking part in a bookstagram challenge for the month of May, hosted by The Nocturnal Reader’s Box.

THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: Did you get any good books for the holidays?

I’m just going to answer the random question this week.

THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: Are there any particular worlds in books in which you’d like to live?

It’s been a really long time since I did one of these posts, so I’ll answer a few of the prompts, as well as the random question, instead of choosing just one:

I’m currently reading: I always have too many books on the go, but one that I’m currently reading and enjoying is Beyond Loneliness: The Gift of God’s Friendship by Trevor Hudson. It’s the first book in this year’s Renovaré Book Club, which I joined again this year. Another book I’m trying to get through is The Complete Robot by Isaac Asimov. This selection of classic short stories is the first I’ve read by Asimov. So far it’s a great read.

I can’t wait to get a copy of: either Finding God in the Waves by Mike McHargue or Rescuing Jesus by Deborah Jian Lee. They are both on my Christmas wish list and are two I’d really like to read soon.

Now the random question: Are there any particular worlds in books in which you’d like to live? There are two: Narnia or Middle-Earth. Both of these imaginary worlds are so different to where I am now, but Lewis and Tolkien created two vivid alternative worlds that would be exciting to live in, plus I think I’d make a good Hobbit!

THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: What would you say is the best children’s book you’ve ever read?

I’m just going to answer the random question:

the hobbit favouriteIn my opinion the best children’s book I’ve ever read, which is also my favourite book of all time is The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien. I first read it when I was about ten years old and loved it right from the start. I’ve read it many times since, and I think that this year I’m due to read it again.

I still haven’t seen the three Peter Jackson movie adaptations yet, but that may change soon. My son now has all three extended version on blu-ray and I did say I would watch them with him at some point. I may run out of excuses soon for not watching them! Maybe I’ll read the book again soon and then offer to watch the movies with him after that. I’m sure I’ll have plenty more to write about on here then.
